Abstract
The present paper has been attempted to made classify the groundwater by various methods of Chamarajanagar Taluk , having an area of 1222.50 sq.km and it falls under Chamrajnagara District, Karnataka, India. Water. The field of hydrogeochemistry has been created to analysis the quality, contamination, chemical properties and its reactions in the groundwater. The suitability of groundwater for various purposes largely depends on the chemical nature and behavior of the various chemical constitutes present in the groundwater. The groundwater samples are analyzed for the major cations and anions such as Ca, Mg, Na, K, Fe, HCO3 CO3, SO4, NO3, Cl and SAR,CaCO3water facies and hardness etc. the standard values of burea of Indian standard (BIS).The chemical quality of groundwater in an area is influenced by various factors such as climate, hydrological conditions, chemical and physical characteristics of soil and geology etc. The sources of groundwater contamination is either natural or anthropogenic or both. According to World Health Organization ((WHO), about 80% of the diseases in human beings are caused by water. Hence, proper understanding of the chemical constituents of groundwater becomes imperative.
