Abstract
This paper aims to investigate the effects of time on the properties of fresh state of recycled self-compacting concrete (RSCC). The effect of recycled materials as a recycled aggregate (crushed red brick and crushed ceramic) on the long fresh state duration for RSCC was evaluated. Recycled materials were used to replace coarse aggregate at different ratios of 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% to produce RSCC mixes. Nine concrete mixes were cast and test to fulfill the aim of this paper. The long fresh state duration of RSCC was evaluated using slump flow test. The period of fresh state which the mixes of RSCC remain achieve the requirement of self-compacted concrete were measured. The effect of the re-tempering process on the compressive strength was investigated. The cost of RSCC per cubic meter was calculated. The results indicated that; the long fresh duration reduced by 48% for the mixes with crushed red brick compared to the mixes with crushed ceramic. The cost of mixes with crushed ceramics was less than that of crushed red brick by 8%.
